The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan was reorganized by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated October 3, 2014, amending the Decree No. 1015 of the President dated July 14, 2010, “On Approval of the Structures of Certain Central Executive Authorities,” to ensure the functioning of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan is the central executive authority that develops and implements state policy in the agricultural sector, including the production and processing of agricultural products and aquaculture facilities, provides necessary services to producers, ensures the efficient use of land, carries out regulatory and economic oversight, and provides services in phytosanitary and veterinary fields.

Historical Background:

• 1946 – Land Commissariat became the Ministry of Agriculture; in February, the Ministry of Agriculture was officially established

• 1947 – Ministry of Technical Crops was integrated into the Ministry of Agriculture

• 1985 – State Agrarian Industry Committee was established

• 1992 – Ministry of Agriculture and Food of independent Azerbaijan was created

• 1993 – The Ministry of Agriculture was re-established and continues its activities
