Yield trends

In Azerbaijan, cotton yield indicators have increased over the past decade under the influence of various factors. State support, the adoption of new varieties, and the expansion of mechanization play a key role.

Average yield indicators

Until 2015, cotton yields averaged 15–18 centners per hectare. In subsequent years, with the support of state programs, this figure increased to 25–30 centners per hectare. In some advanced farms, yields have even exceeded 35–40 centners per hectare.

  • Drip irrigation systems not only save water but also increase productivity.
  • Drone and satellite monitoring enable timely measures against pests.
  • Mechanization accelerates the harvesting process while preserving fiber quality.
  • In recent years, trials of long-fiber and high-yield varieties have expanded. In particular, the Turan-1 and Delta-21 varieties are considered promising in terms of productivity.

“The highest yield indicators are recorded in the Aran and Karabakh regions. This is related to the favorable climate and soil conditions.”

From 2025 onwards, the goal is to increase average productivity to 40 centners per hectare. To achieve this, the application of digital management and international certification mechanisms is being expanded.
