A field seminar was held at the Plant Protection and Technical Crops Scientific Research Institute on "Resistance of local and foreign cotton varieties to abiotic and biotic stress factors under intensive cultivation conditions, and productivity indicators."

The event was attended by professors and associate professors of the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University (ADAU), heads and representatives of the State Agrarian Development Centers (DAIM), Plant Protection and Fumigation (disinfestation) Centers, Regional Training Centers, representatives of "MKT Istehsalat Kommersiya" LLC, "Azerpambiq ASK" LLC, "P-Agro" LLC, engaged in cotton procurement and processing, scientists, specialists and cotton farmers.

Opening the event held in an open field, the director of the institute, Ibrahim Jafarov, spoke about the steps taken in our country to develop cotton growing, one of the traditional production areas of agriculture with great potential. He noted that work is being consistently continued in our country to apply the world's most advanced practices in order to develop cotton growing. One of the tasks ahead in this area is to work on cotton seed production issues and expand the use of local varieties. He emphasized the importance of implementing projects aimed at improving the activities of scientific research bases, paying special attention to the development of national seed production and reducing seed dependence.

ADAU professor Nizami Seyidaliyev, MKT Production and Commerce Department Manager Farid Firudinov, Azerpambiq ASK Chief Agronomist Rafail Tahirov, P-Agro Agronomist Parviz Rzayev, BMTBETI colleagues Aladdin Tagiyev, Mahal Kazimov, Sabuhi Eldarov, Dilara Marlamova, and cotton farmer Afras Askerov delivered speeches at the event, presenting the challenges facing cotton growing, factors affecting the productivity of local and foreign cotton varieties during the vegetation period, the establishment of seed production, and the creation of local cotton varieties resistant to stress factors.

Later, experts and farmers discussed ways to solve problems encountered during planting and stated that interest in this area has increased in recent years, and that holding events of this type will contribute to increasing crop production.
