Social welfare
Cotton farming is not only an agricultural activity but also a source of social well-being for thousands of families.The goal of the Azerbaijan Cotton Producers Association (ACPA) is to improve farmers’ quality of life and promote sustainable social development in rural communities.
Currently, Azerbaijan is in the process of becoming a Better Cotton country member, and within this framework, steps are being taken towards implementing BCI principles.
Social well-being in rural communities
Education and awareness are key directions of social development. ACPA organises training programmes and field visits for farmers to enhance their knowledge and skills. Awareness-raising projects are implemented to increase youth interest in agriculture and support their active participation in the sector.
Health and well-being play an important role in improving the living standards of rural communities. Safe working environments and protective measures are promoted for farming families. At the same time, improving sanitation conditions and access to clean water in rural communities remains one of the main priorities.
Gender equality and the role of women are of particular importance in agriculture. The active involvement of rural women in farming, their participation in training, and engagement in decision-making processes are integral parts of social development.
Azerbaijan has great social potential in this field. Although some projects are still at the initial stage, ACPA supports these initiatives and plans for their implementation. The goal is to improve welfare in rural areas, provide farmers with social resilience, and integrate agriculture with social development.
